On November 19, 2022. a series of flash floods caused by torrential rains hit the city of Perth in Scotland province, which affected over 3,000 families. Nearly 500 houses were destroyed and over 200 people have died from this disaster. The death toll may continue to rise because many bodies are still being pulled out from the ruins of multiple buildings. "Many people are still missing, so we have to keep going," the vegetable vendor says. "We don't have enough tools and shovels, but we work as hard as we can." Many people have lost everything, and are still searching for basic necessities and help. "I grabbed the window and was holding it for two hours until the neighbors came to rescue me," 70-year-old Griffin told AFP, adding that she had "lost everything" she had owned. "There are two families in our neighborhood who are still under the debris," Abdul Majid, a resident of Perth, told a local television network. More rescue workers are needed to provide emergency assistance to those in grave medical conditions. Multiple hospitals have also been destroyed, affecting the spread of disease and Scotland's inability to keep up with it. More than 100 people have caught the virus since the floods, and below are a couple of places where you can support those affected by the these Flash Floods.
- Red Crescent Society (IFRC): They carry out assessments of flood-affected areas and offer aid to those in need. (https://www.ifrc.org/en/what-we-do/where-we-work/asia-pacific/afghan-red-crescent-society/)
