Mexico City Landslide

On the 10th of September, the outskirts of the Mexican capital, Mexico City, were hit by a massive landslide, leaving one dead and at least ten missing. Rocks as big as smaller homes, coming from a section of mountains in the nearby area, struck the city of Tlalnepantla.

The event is as dangerous as the city is a densely populated zone, home to thousands of families and individuals. Another factor that played a role in the event was the condition of Tlalnepantla. According to pictures taken at the site, the houses in Tlalnepantla were in poor condition. They are very crudely built and incapable of sustaining natural disasters.

Firefighters and local emergency patrols traveled on-site to remove rocks throughout the affected areas of Tlalnepantla. They have evacuated the zone so that workers and rescuers could come and do their job. Countless were lost or trapped under the mountain of rocks and awaited saving.

Volunteers called to aid the region have had an immense impact on the area. From children to adults, many helped Tlalnepantla find the missing people.

It is a truly devastating event, as many were seeking their loved ones under the rubble. An example is the case of Carmona and his son. They were directed to remove sand and stone from their given area. As they worked, they desperately anticipated word of Carmona’s wife and kids as they were stuck in the debris. Carmona reveals that the same issue has affected many others, including his co-worker.

With that in mind, please consider donating to the cause at ICFDNan organization that actively seeks to raise funds for issues like these.
