North Carolina Tornados

February 16, 2021 - a tornado ripped through the town of Ocean Isle Beach and its surrounding neighborhoods. 3 were killed and 10 were injured as the tornado tore through neighborhoods, towns, and other areas in its path. This tornado originated from the same weather system as the one that brought cold weather and freezing temperatures to much of the nation. However, this unpredictable tornado startled authorities and residents of the Carolinas, as they were said to be notified minutes after the storm first hit.

As of March, one month after the initial tornado, the Carolinas are still dealing with weather issues. The combination of tornadoes and severe storms over the past months have left parts of the Carolinas, especially North Carolina, devastated and destroyed. The sudden uptick in weather threats in the southeastern United States, specifically in the Carolinas, has been subject to many people dealing with destruction, displacement, and devastation. With collapsed homes and buildings, parts of North Carolina continue to suffer as the recent unpredictable weather raises tension in the Carolinas.

The damage is currently being investigated and assessed in the short period of time in which there is no further rain or severe weather. Thursday, March 18 brought a round of severe weather around the east coast, with rains and flooding in the aftermath of the storms. The road to recovery for the Carolinas starts with the uncovering of fallen trees, homes, and any other destroyed objects. While there were no new deaths or injuries following the severe weather of the last few weeks, search teams are still out uncovering and assessing the damage and any developments to further the search.
